A hearty Southern stuffing made with crumbled cornbread, toasted pecans, sausage, and fresh herbs. A Thanksgiving essential.

  • 6 cups crumbled cornbread
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup toasted pecan pieces
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

    Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

    Brown sausage in a large skillet, breaking it into crumbles. Add celery and onion, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.

    In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sausage mixture, pecans, sage, and thyme.

    Whisk chicken broth, eggs, salt, and pepper together. Pour over the cornbread mixture and stir until evenly moistened.
